Research

We will go to the local health department and research the available information for your property, such as engineer plans, as-built cards, permits, and letters from and to the health agent and old inspection reports. We will also obtain the assessor field card which tells us how many bedrooms, etc.

Inspection

The inspection process entails a walk-through of your house to sketch the layout and number of bedrooms. All sewer piping and water service going through the foundation must be inspected for condition and type of pipe being used. After all the work in your home has been done, we will locate, dig up and inspect the D-box, septic tank, and leach facility. If you have a pump chamber, that will need to be located and dug up. The pump and alarm must be tested to ensure they are working properly. The certified inspector must conduct the inspection him/her self and determine the elevation of ground water relative to the bottom of the leach field.

Report

The Massachusetts DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) issues a standard 11 page report that must be completed and signed by a certified inspector. This report must be filed with the local health department within 30 days of the inspection.
